Weaning Chronicles – Week 4

Week four is done, SON!

Not much to say about this week! I did drop a pump on the very last day of Week 3 so Week 4 has been spent letting my body adjust to only pumping for 90 minutes total – three 30 minute sessions. I now pump at 7:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 9:30 pm.

The anxiety, insomnia, and night sweats have mostly disappeared so it’s been nice to actually get into bed and fall asleep. I do still feel like that pump in the middle of the day happens at inconvenient times and I have found myself pumping on the go still, which isn’t my favorite. But moms do hard things all the time!

I have finally seen a drop in overall production and although it’s only a few ounces which is anxiety inducing in it’s own way but I spent the last 3 weeks preparing myself to see a dip in production because that is actually the entire point of weaning.

So I am grateful my body is doing such a great job at what I asked it to do!

There really is something to be said for going slow – I don’t feel rushed, I don’t feel overwhelmed, and although there is some anxiety, it’s nothing like it was when I previously rushed through dropping a session in one week.

Our bodies have already been through so much, there really is no point in stressing ourselves out emotionally and physically any more than we already are trying to keep these tiny humans alive!

See y’all back for Week 5!
