Week 7, bay-beeeee!!!

We’re down to TWO PUMPS!!!!! And finally, finally, finally seeing a reduction in output which is PHEW – big relief.

I honestly thought I was going to be pumping for the rest of my life. Not really, but you know that feeling. It seems to be greatly tied to postpartum and it’s like everything is permanent. But it’s not! My body just really needs more time to get the memo.

I was able to drop a pump on the final day of week 7. I was constantly touching by boobs waiting to find the dreaded hockey puck somewhere that all my milk had backed up at. But I didn’t! We were able to spend the day together as a family, out and about doing things, with NO interruptions.

I feel like a new woman!!! With a bunch of free time!!!!

Which we know is not really true, I can just put the baby down for a nap now and quickly unload the dishwasher and not worry about having to sit down to pump.

Week 7 did have a continuation of anxiety, sweating, and insomnia so we’ll see if week 8 has that too.

Before I was able to fully drop that middle of the day pump, I did reduce both my first pump and last pump by 5 minutes each. I did this slowly, in 1-2 min increments every few days. Now that I have the middle of the day pump reduced, I’m going to focus on reducing that last pump of the day and keeping my first pump at 25 minutes. I might toy with reducing both at the same time and see what happens.

We are gearing up for a second embryo transfer and I need to be fully weaned in order to have a hysteroscopy procedure done and to start estrogen to help manage my cycle so we can have everything prepped and ready for a transfer. There’s LOTS of feelings surrounding this so I want to make sure pumping is done because I’m essentially not giving my body a lot of time to rest in between. Not ideal, but between my age, worry that my doctor might retire, and just wanting to get it over and done with (will discuss this in a separate blog) we’re just going to run it. Will check back in for Week 8!
