Weaning Chronicles – Week 9

February 20, 2025

Week 9 is done!

I am down to one pump that is 18 minutes long and its crazy how fast and slow it goes. I was pumping 8 times a day, for 30 minutes a session and it felt super inconvenient. I’m down to one 18 minute pump and am still inconvenienced… if that doesn’t tell you how I feel about exclusively pumping for 14 months, I am not sure what will!

I was really hoping that I could have been done this week, but that does not seem to be the case, so I will continue to drop a little bit of time each day and see how my body responds. I am still opting to pump in the morning as that is when I seem the most “full” and am still producing around 7-8 ounces, which is just wild to see still!

We are going to start everything for the embryo transfer as soon as I’m done, so I’m trying to accept the fact that it’s ok that things are moving slowly because I know the second we hit the ground running with the embryo transfer, it’s going to be chaotic.

There’s been no outwardly crazy symptoms this week which has been nice! I do expect to be hit with some once I really reduce time again next week as that seems to be the trend for me. So preparing myself for some insomnia, anxiety, and irritability.

I do need to give a special shoutout to my Baby Buddha! This little pump has been carrying me through my entire EP journey, and this weaning process. It’s been so efficient at removing milk *for me* as I need that long, mechanical pull that the BB offers. It’s truly a little powerhouse and I would not have made it as far as I have without it! The new 2.0 offers the “soft stimulation” mode and that is where I’ve been living. I think its important to note that there is no “right way” to pump. There’s a lot of people who respond to similar settings but it doesn’t mean you will or you have to use them!

If you’re looking for a portable pump that’s about the same size as your phone, I cannot recommend the Baby Buddha enough!!! You can use the code THATMILLENNIALMOM for 10% off the Baby Buddha website.
